On the 16th December The AIEA with it’s members, suppliers and industry colleagues held it’s first Christmas Charity Lunch and brought some festive cheer to around 150 guests from the wonderful charity Solace, who’s helping women from sexual and domestic abuse to rebuild their lives. The event was held at Friend’s house,Euston in London. And I have to say it was amazing to see how many members and industry colleagues that turned up to support the event.
A Christmas market theme was created by our lovely members and suppliers and there were stalls of clothes, shoes, handbags, jewellery, toys, books, delicates, towels, food and gifts. All guests were given shopping bags with tokens on arrival to then be used during their shopping experience. The lovely Megan from Successful Events sang Christmas songs while the guests were shopping.
After the shopping experience the guests were welcomed into the dining room where Sam McNeil and Tom Billington from Songdivision entertained with songs while the guests were served a Christmas Lunch. Santa’s Grotto with our own lovely Santa (Chris Walls) handed out presents and a children’s corner led by Debbie from Hatch opened.
The event ended with a singalong where many of the children took to the stage and sang some amazing songs.
The feedback from the event has been overwhelming and a spokes woman from Solace quoted:Just wanted to say we really appreciated the Christmas lunch yesterday, the effort all the staff and volunteers made, we are truly thankful.
The whole experience was wonderful and our families felt special. One of the mothers told me this was her first Christmas lunch ever.
It brought tears to my eyes to see families having so much fun, the staff went above and beyond entertaining the children and serving families.
One of the women commented that she felt like royalty.
This morning I’ve just been asked by a child can we go again!
And I know we can’t wait to organise next years event, but before then we will take some well deserved time off to celebrate Christmas!
Wishing all of our amazing members, suppliers and industry colleagues a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
